Process owner, is defined as the party responsible for a particular process. The Process Owner may be referred to as the Business Process Owner.

Summary of Process Owner

Process Owner is the person responsible for ensuring that the process is executed. There are cases where the responsibility for process improvement and responsibility for achieving a goal are separate.


In the field of BPM and internal control, the Process Owner has the responsibility of "Optimization" (improvement of the effectiveness of the Process Model, improvement of performance of the Process Model, decrease of risk etc.), and practices "Process Model Improvement" which leads to analysis verification.

(There are many cases which include "education and training" is many in method improvement.)


As Process Owner fitness the person

When each the head of group was appointed the process owner , it is attended by evils that difference between a responsibility of the process owner and responsibility of the existing organization is vague.

In the organization that request immediate growth and changes , because they execute the delegation of the responsibility and the authority , they appoint lower-grade staffs to the process owner

And they can define the process that is cross groups in the organization.

In the case , it is difficult that the process owner can understand all tasks which was assigned to the each group.

The process owner of the process that is cross many groups must consult with the leader in each group , must active in an improvement of the process and must have deeply understood the business of groups that he is related


Process Owner's point of view

  • The point of view of Effectiveness and performance
    Hasn't efficiency gone down because "Omission,Oversight,Error" is evaded?
  • "The grasp of To-Be" and "The plan of As-is Model"
    Being able to grasp present condition it is accurately? Is the proper form groped?
  • The point of view of "top-down" and "bottom-up"
    Does the member has collect improvement idea?
  • The point of view of "deductive hypothesis" and "recursive hypothesis"
    Do you have accepted a new theory? , Is the theory that you experienced in your company utilized?
  • The point of view of "general optimization" and "individual optimization"
    Has it become usual to format in the other process?
  • The point of view of "refining a strength" and "conquering a weakness"
    Don't you do only the execution of "conquering a weakness" ?
  • Mapping "the process" and "the risk"
    Do you forecast generation of of risk? , Is it validity as for separation of responsibilities? , Have you recorded enough evidence?
